Monthly wrap-up: April 2018

This was, without a doubt, the single worst reading month for me in ages. I feel like I’ve been in a reading slump since the middle of February but even March was better than this!! I would say I don’t wanna talk about it but…… Let’s be real.

How bad was it, you ask? Six. I read six (6) books last month. And now to make those statistics even worse: 2 were a short stories & 1 was a chapbook. Three titles were also rereads for me which means I didn’t even read a lot of new material! Like!! I’m a gay failure, thanks.

On the plus side I reread Running With Lions and I will be posting my review in the next few days. It comes out on June 7th, remember to pre-order!!

Monthly wrap-up: March 2018

If February was a month of gay stories for me, March was one for poetry and gay stories. I really only now realised that the only book I read last month, that wasn’t gay was a non-fiction one about protestants living in my neighborhood in XVIII century…

So I read 13 books last month. I think that’s a great number, especially considering I was lowkey struggling with a reading slump the last week or so. March was also the month I started the LGBT+ ownvoices bingo, which might explain why I read so many gay books! (Not that I usually read less of them…)

Monthly wrap-up: February 2018

Before you say anything, yes, I do realise I haven’t made one of those in a while. Frankly the last couple of months weren’t the best for me, mental health wise & finding the energy for blogging was like the last on my list of priorities. But!! I’m ready to pick up right where we left off!!

So in February I read 12 books. Nothing spectacular, but apart from one comic book & one novella, they were all full length novels. So I say I did pretty well. Especially given how I was sick and literally only sleeping for a week……

I started the month with Furyborn by Claire Legrand (first time I got my wish granted on netgalley!! Also the review is ready but I’m waiting until we’re closer to the publication date in May) & finished it with a reread of The Bedlam Stacks by Natasha Pulley. And honestly??? It was such a good, gay month for me. 😮

Monthly wrap-up: September 2017

I’m really late with this post and I don’t have that many books to put in it. Basically, I’m nothing but a gay failure… Hopefully I’ll do better in October!

Last month I read barely 12 books. On top of that they were mostly short stories or comic books – fast reads, in any case. There’s only one full lenght novel on this list! But I’m very happy about that one because it’s a Polish !! lgbt!! ya novel. You might not think it’s a big deal but in Poland? We just don’t get books like that. :///

Monthly wrap-up: August 2017

In my last wrap-up I said I hope August will be as good to me as July was – and I read 17 books that month. And guess what? August was even better!! True, I read 4 poetry chapbooks this month & some comic books but the fact remains: I finished 25 books.

I started the month with The Watchmaker of Filigree Street, a book by my new favourite author, Natasha Pulley. I technically finished it with something else a few hours later but I wanna remember the end of August with a glory of Wonder Woman: Warbringer by Leigh Bardugo.

Monthly wrap-up: July 2017

I must say, July was simply wonderful for me in terms of reading! I was starting to get scared for my reading abilities this year (I was like 15 books behind my challenge on gr at some point!) but then finally a true blessing happened. 17 books in one month? I’d say that’s spectacular.

I started the month with The Gentelman’s Guide to Vice and Virtue by Mackenzi Lee which I’ve been anticipating for months & which exceeded my expectations in every way and ended it with a reread of one of my all time favourites: Finnikin of the Rock by Melina Marchetta (you can read my review here).
